Counselor in Training

Cit26
Our Counselor in Training (CIT) program is open to upcoming Freshmen. CITs will join us in our daily summer programming where they will assist with the execution of camp activities, games, & field trips as well as participate and engage with campers. They will receive training, job shadowing opportunities, and learn skills such as accountability, time management, and leadership.

The CIT program is for kids who are not quite ready yet for a job and have outgrown our summer programs. This program will help prepare and train future employees for this specific job, and help teach qualities, specifically in leadership, that will be useful for any job they may eventually work.

APPLICATION PROCESS
Those who are interested will be required to fill out and turn in an application anytime from Mon March 2nd - March 16th.  Applications can be turned in at Isaiah's office at Hermon Middle School.  Please print and fill out the application linked at the bottom of this page.
There are only a select few positions available. Acceptance and non-acceptance letters will be sent out by the end of the week of April 14th.

Those who accept this position will be required to complete the same training and attend the same meetings with our current employees (of both elementary and middle school summer programs) the week of June 15th, prior to the start of our daily programming, which begins on June 22nd.

These Counselors will also be required to attend programming at least one day a week, or a total of at least 40 hours volunteered throughout our 8-week summer program, but can attend as many days as they’d like.  Community service hours will be given for all hours worked.

The cost of this program is $250.  This covers CPR & training fees, days attended, summer apparel, and field trip expenses.

CITs will be required to apply & interview on their own if they want to work the following summer.  We will help them through that process.

Parent Communication
This may be the first time going through the process of applying for a program for our participants. With that being said, we understand parents/guardians may want to help with this process or even push them to do so. While we appreciate that, we want to talk with the potential participants and communicate with them. This is important for parents and participants to understand, as it is a vital part of the improvement of their responsibility and communication skills.
